The Boston Massacre of 2010 aka the great bunny massacre

Memorial Day weekend started with a bang...well, actually with cheesecake. Dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. I think their strawberry martinis are about heaven on earth and after 2 of them I was nice and relaxed and ready for an early bedtime.

Saturday we woke up to a gorgeous day. After trying the Route 38 Diner (not as good as Vic's although they did have giant pothos with the whole ceiling covered with vines from these 3 plants in small pots) a trip to Home Depot was in order. We just went for a couple things....$1500 later...we were the proud owners of a new stackable washer/dryer as well as tons of new plants.

I came home to mow the lawn which I really enjoy usually...today I'm going along having a grand ole time when I look down to see a baby bunny...I had run over a baby bunny! Of course its suffering and I run into the house to get Paul. I'm hysterical crying so he thinks I've run over one of the dogs with the lawnmower. He comes out and I cannot stop crying! He takes care of the poor baby bunny and I resume my grass cutting. I look over to see him digging another hole. He had found another deceased baby bunny. This one I had nothing to do with. And then I found a 3rd dead baby bunny. The only thing we can figure is that a rabbit had babies within our fenced yard and one of our murderous dogs found them. I then worked in my garden and planted some flowers.

Saturday night we went to a friend's fundraiser dinner/dance. So much fun. Our friend Tonya got wasted (hilarious) and allowed the Maine out of her. There was a silent auction and we learned someone at to check his bid every 5 minutes to make sure no one outbid him. I'll give you one guess as to who you think it is.

Sunday morning we had planned on sleeping in as we had been up very late on Saturday, but I was up by 10:30am. I laid out in the yard and my legs saw the sun for the first time in years (yay for being done with Ideal Image FINALLY!). I only stayed out for 30 minutes though cause I didn't want to get burned. Sunday night we had some friends over for a cookout (and so they could help Paul unload and bring in the new washer/dryer). Board games and Wii rounded out the night (helped along by cocktails). Despite my use of bugspray that we bought in Belize I ended up covered in mosquito bites. Guess I'm just that sweet.

Monday was the Tewksbury Memorial Day parade. I decided it would be fun for Paul and I to walk down to Main St. with Sasha and Jojo. The walk one way is 1.5 miles. We get there about 30 minutes early and find a good spot in the shade. Thankfully we decided to bring chairs with us (yes, we walked a round trip of 3 miles with chairs strapped to our backs). The icecream was parked not too far from where we were sitting so I went to get us all icecream (even Sasha and Jojo). The parade started and we were thinking it'd be 30 to 45 minutes max. WRONG! 90 minutes later and the parade was finally over. Jojo seemed bored by the entire parade, but Sasha was terrified. At one point she tried to run away. She does not like gunfire, sirens, or truck horns. This was the most random parade, but so fun. There were 3 high school marching bands, 2 bagpipe bands, tons of clowns, about 20 different boy scout and girl scout trooops, random semi trucks, old tractors, about 35 old cars...on and on and on. The walk back was a little rough and Paul had to carry Jojo at one point. All in all we were impressed with our small town pride and our town's spirit.

And then Tuesday was back to work. We should have 4 day work weeks every week! It's so nice that tomorrow is Thursday already!
