So, we spent the weekend in Old Forge, NY. A breezy 5 1/2 hour drive from Boston and we were in town for Mary's wedding. Old Forge seemed like a deserted ghost town. Nary a tourist in sight. Perhaps school isn't out in NY yet, but we were surprised at how empty things were.
We checked in to the Waters Edge Inn where our water view was ruined by Mary's wedding tent! Just kidding. I mean our view was blocked, but we were happy to be sharing in Mary's day and didn't really care. We got to run up and see Mary and Chad quick before the rehearsal dinner and then we were off to dinner at the Knotty Pine. Yummy! We spent the rest of the night watching tv and relaxing in bed. Unfortunately I waited a little too long to book our room so we had to settle on a room with 2 full beds. Paul desperately wanted us to share a bed, but as we snuggled (we really had no choice in that matter the bed was so small) I politely asked him to sleep in the other bed...best decision ever! We both slept so good! There was no way we would've had a good night sleep if we had tried to share that tiny ass bed with our huge behinds.
Saturday we woke up and had breakfast at Keyes Pancake House. Nothing spectacular there. We went back to the hotel and changed into our bathingsuits for a day of fun at Enchanted Forest Water Safari...apparently the largest water park in NY. Neither of us had been to a water park in so long we had forgotten how much fun it was! It was a gorgeous day and we went on a bunch of rides and lazed around the lazy river (of which there were 2). We went back to the hotel, a brief nap, and a shower later and we were ready for Mary's wedding. Mary was a beautiful bride and both her and Chad looked radiantly happy. Everyone had a great time dancing the night away. Even a little rain, thunder, and lightening didn't dampen the party. We even sat at the wedding with another couple who had just moved to Boston.
Today was spent driving back to MA. I am so exhausted! It will be an early bedtime tonight for sure. But a great weekend!
